Welcome To The Official Website Of Le Maxque
The True Son Of Indigenous African Agbaja Rhythms And…. More

Born in Ghana, with Togolaise parental background, Le Maxque grew up in a music family…the type of traditional group then called ‘HABOBO’ popularly found among the ‘Ayigbe Clan’ …and was then headed by his grand father Inpkasti Hadzi, a renowned composer famous for his ability to compose songs instantly with ‘current hot rumors’ that was the talk of the village during popular occasions…

At the age of 15,Le Maxque became a traditional music group dance teacher, the indigenous agbaja dance that came along with the Ayigbe Clan over 100 years ago to settle in Ghana; specifically in the Volta region part of which has now become a territory of Republic of Togo…His determination to become a musician was soon diverted when a strong financial stringency hit his family and he could not fund his solo album…As a result, he traveled overseas to seek greener pastures…His journey took him across Asia and Europe…Life wasn’t so quick to respond to his call as he thought…. But during all these though times, he equipped himself with skills of local music of the countries he found himself in and was able to create his own repertoires out of their local rhythms…. Consequently, Le Maxque developed a unique rhythm that has separated his style from the rest …

After over ten years of working feverishly on his songs, Le Maxque in May 2008,finaly released his long awaited solo album ‘Elavanyo’…The first video ‘Amelevi’ and ‘Elavanyo’ was an instant hit in Togo. The reason was not only the songs but also the mask concept that he introduced…within two months, Le Maxque became a household name in Togo… ‘Elavanyo’ the title track of the album cuts across all languages and barriers...Its chords progressions is rhythmically mysterious and has the power to freeze your concentration towards the song…The music video is something else...its no child play…and the first of it kind from Africa...and worth watching... his style of indigenous traditional blended Agbaja rhythms is seen exceptional….

The Concept Of The Mask became very necessary because he wanted to do something to get instant attention when he released his album…and it did really worked…so it is true that every musician must have something unique about him that separates him from the rest…So fortunately or rather unfortunately, the real identity of Le Maxque cannot be known because when he unmasked, he become invisible…. no one recognizes him….

Le Maxque also believes that it the sole responsibility of every man on earth to do something meaningful for the peaceful existence of mankind …so therefore he has devoted part of his music carrier to support The Street Child, a phenomenon that has been hanging around the necks of governments for decades…See more details on Press Release…
